Enteric methane, a byproduct of ruminant animals' digestion process, is one of the major contributors to agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in the United States and worldwide. Reducing these emissions is challenging, but a review of mitigation options has revealed that implementing individual mitigation approaches can reduce enteric methane emissions from 5% to nearly 20%. Combining approaches can reduce emissions by as much as 30%.
