The organic fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW) can be composted to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills. Potential applications of compost from MSW include establishing green spaces, urban tree planting, rain gardens, and green roofs. All of these applications not only improve the recycling of organic MSW, but they also all have documented benefits for stormwater management (4 pages; 2020).
